Dusk slowly made it's approach upon the land, engulfing it in gold and crimson light. The slowly dimming sun left shadows dancing along the forest floor in a silent ballet. Most of the creatures of the woods began to settle in their homes, while some were only just emerging.
Two figures made their way silently through the trees. One of them being the form of a young woman whom appeared to be no older than twenty-two years of age. The girl was clad in gray colored light chainmail armor that fit a little snugly against her body. Hazel eyes stared straight forward, searching for any prey. Beside the woman was a mabari warhound, though he appeared to be smaller than the average male mabari. His appearance otherwise fit the description of any other mabari; short brown fur, dark amber eyes, small sharp ears and powerful muscles. However, the canine's fur was painted with silver swirls along his flanks, something his master had decided to do.
Raya began to hum a little tune as she swerved about to avoid the trees. It was a song her father had use to sing to her as a child, and it brought back so many memories of her younger days, and it brought to her a feeling of comfort.
Home is behind the world ahead
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadow, to the edge of night
Until the stars are all aligned
Mist and shadow
Cloud and shadow
All shall fade
All shall fade
The mabari growled softly to the song, not aggressively, but affectionately. He loved it when his master sang, for it brought comfort for him as well. It was common for Raya to break out into random songs when on the hunt, for it can become unnerving being away from home during this time, and singing eased the tension for the huntress.
A gust of wind picked up then, causing the woman's dark brown hair to billow behind her. The hound perked up his ears and sniffed at the air. "What is it Hawkes?" Raya asked, looking down at the mabari. Hawkes growled, and pointed forward. Raya followed the dog's line of site, and soon enough she found what Hawkes had seen. A large stag whom was grazing peacefully in the clearing. A smile cracked upon the girl's face. Now this would feed her and her brothers for a good few days!
Quickly, Raya grabbed her trusty bow which was strapped along her back. The long bow shone a bit in the light, staining the normally silver and emerald bow into a crimson color. Snatching an arrow from her quiver, she strung it onto the string. Aiming carefully, she pointed the arrow to the chest of the majestic stag. In one fluid motion, Raya released the arrow. It soared through the air, striking upon it's victim. The stag bellowed, and ran, the arrow just missing it's heart.
"Vado celeriter!" Raya commanded, and as soon as she had finished, Hawkes was off in a heart beat. The mabari sprung forward, barking as he chased down the weakened stag into the trees. And now, Raya would play the waiting game. It would hopefully not take too long for the hound to take down the stag, but even so, it would be a few minutes. Raya began to hum again as she stood frozen in place, watching for the return of Hawkes.
