Name: Kallian Adaia Tabris[/size]
Age: 21
Sex: Female
Race: Elf
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Eye Colour: Hazel, dark green with flecks of golden brown
Hair Colour: Red
Height: 5’8”
Weight: 120 lbs
Notable tattoos/scars/birthmarks:
She has a tattoo of the Venedhal in very faint light green to goldish brown ink. The branches/wood of the tree is in the gold and it extends from the base of her right wrist to the point of her collarbone with the green filling in the tree. It’s a very subtle tattoo, despite its size. Kalli also has a silver scar that curves around her upper arm from the middle of her bicep down to the point of her elbow—an unfortunate result from an attempt to show off when she was a child.
General Clothing:
Plate armour. Kallian knows what it’s like to wear rags and to be defenseless. She’s always been a tomboy and she hates to wear a dress. The only reason she’s even interested in tops without sleeves or full coverage is because 1) it is actually not ridiculously cold in Ferelden year-round and 2) she can show off her tattoo which she is rather proud of. If Kalli isn’t wearing her heavy armour (courtesy of the Grey Warden’s surplus at Ostagar), she has a set of slimmer more flexible hardened leather armour that she will don in its place. A dark rich brown leather with olive accents, she finds the set to be rather aesthetically pleasing, if not reminiscent of the Dalish. She also wears a gold band etched with leaves on her right middle finger when out of her armour and on a chain around her neck when within.
Weapons:
Having been denied weapons most of her life, Kalli has a fondness for the things and seems to collect them, a bit like a magpie would gather anything at all shiny. Because of this, her belt is littered with the hilts of many blades, despite the greatsword slung across her back. She also keeps a bow and arrow close at hand but, not growing up Dalish, she’s a terrible shot. Much better at the stabbing and slashing bits of combat, hence the whole ‘gets really made and roughs stuff up’ thing.
What to expect: A greatsword, again courtesy of the GWS [Grey Warden Surplus], and several rather curious-looking daggers she’s collected in her travels. She mostly swings the giant blade around, but has been known to temporarily bring out the daggers for fighting in close quarters. Her fighting style is rather rough and unrefined as she still mostly fights with raw instinct, her teachings about the blade feel like a lifetime ago, despite her natural skill and success.
Pets: None. Pets need to eat too, it would’ve just been cruel to have had one in the alienage.

- Children. Children are blighted scary little monsters. Andraste, preserve us! If the children ever joined forces with the Archdemon…let’s just say this Blight would be crossing the borders of Ferelden before you could say ‘Maker’s saggy unmentionables’ five times fast…not that you would want to.
- Being poor
- Getting injured. Not the actual ‘Oh Maker, I’m bleeding~!’ part, but all the fussing afterwards.
- When she can’t tell if someone is joking or not.
- Watching good people get hurt/killed.

- Shems. Not hate, but they’re going to have to work a lot harder for her approval.

Character History:
Kallian grew up the only child of Cyrion and Adaia. Her parents were deeply in love, but they had the misfortune of living in the Alienage, and not under the free skies outside the city walls as the Dalish did. Kallian never understood why her mother was taken away from her, only that the shems had come into the alienage in force and her mother had tried to stop them from hurting an old elven woman who had been too slow to get out of the way. Adaia fought back, just as she had taught her daughter to do in their secret training sessions in their small shack in the alienage, and was cut down.
Kallian tried to run to her mother, a wooden sword in hand—after she’d tried showing her mother how well she could twirl her blade and ended up slicing her arm rather spectacularly and nearly losing an eye, Adaia had reprimanded her young daughter and restricted her to the use of a wooden blade—her father pulled her back, tears in his eyes, and she watched from the shadows as her mother bled out in the damp streets alone, the shems tearing through alienage and destroying any who dared oppose them while she and her two young cousins clung to Cyrion and wept in the darkness.
Shortly after that incident, notices like ‘Those who bear swords will die upon them’ appeared around the alienage, and the whispers blamed Kalli’s late mother for their posting. Cyrion, broken-hearted by the loss of his dear wife and determined to keep his daughter safe, forbid her from continuing the training her mother had started and resolved himself to marry his daughter off to the best match he possibly could.
The Tabris clan was not as poorly off as most of the families in the alienage. They had their own ‘house’, a good roof over their heads, food in their bellies, shoes on their feet, and they were somewhat adequately clothed. True, they were still dirt poor by a shem’s standards and they never had extra money for ‘frivolity’ but they were still well-off by alienage standards. In time, Cyrion was able to arrange an enviable match for his pretty daughter and the Hahren was able to find a bride for her cousin, Soris, just in time for the couple to have a double wedding—how delightful!
Unfortunately for the reluctant bride and groom-to-be, the son of the Arl of Denerim started drinking a little bit too early and the ugly side of Elf/Shem relations came to a head when he tried to crash the wedding. Hotheadness is a fantastic family trait to have and the Tabris clan inherited it from their ancestors in spades. Shianni, Soris’ sister and Kalli’s cousin, decked Vaughn which made him none-too-pleased when he woke up after his first attempt to abduct some pretty Elven ‘wenches’ and ‘have a little fun’. So he did what any disgraced nobleman looking for a cheap thrill with a score to settle would do: he returned right after they exchanged vows and carried off all the women. Fun times.
At the Arl of Denerim’s estate, things went downhill fast when one of the girls resisted the guardmen’s ‘advances’ and was killed. The girls were then separated when who should come to the rescue but Soris…looking like a complete idiot in borrowed armour and all thumbs with a sword of all things. Forgetting all about the Grey Warden they had run into before the wedding ceremony, Kalli jumped on the chance to put some hurt into the shems who had dared to threaten her people.
She learned from Soris that the Grey Warden, Duncan, had given himself and Nelaros weapons after her new husband insisted that they not sit idly by and wait for the women to be returned after the shems were through. It follows, then, that after all his heroism and bravery, just when she was truly starting to like this Nelaros fellow for more than just his good looks, he is cut down before her eyes, dead before he can see her as she was meant to be—a warrior.
A handful of short confrontations later and they arrived to see Shianni in a very suspicious and compromising position whereupon Vaughn attempted to bribe her away from freeing the rest of the elves, the scoundrel! But a single look at Shianni’s tear-streaked and desperate face and before Kalli knew it, she was standing in the middle of the room covered in blood with Vaughn’s corpse headless at her feet. That was the first time she unleashed her berserker rage in a very crude, yet certainly effective, fashion.
They arrived in the alienage seconds ahead of a guard posse who demanded the elves responsible for the slaughter at the estate. Naturally, Kallian took the blame. There was no way she would allow Soris to stand in harm’s way, even if it cost her her life. Thankfully, such a sacrifice was not necessary as Duncan stepped in at that moment and conscripted her. She would become a Grey Warden and leave her life of poverty behind. But it came at a serious price. For the city elves, just like the Dalish, family is very important. Even though she would have lost them with her death at the hands of the guards had Duncan not stepped in, and even though she knows that they are happy and honoured to have her amongst the Grey Wardens, Kalli feels as though she has betrayed them with her freedom from the oppression of the shem and all that alienage life entails.

Notes: I happen to really like the default origin names…so I used one. Sorry if that was bad. Also…confused as to whether or not we are supposed to use actual origins if we’re playing an origin…so I just rolled with it. xD
